Florencia

The capital of the Caquetá department in southwestern Colombia is known as the “Golden Gate to the Colombian Amazon.” It is located in the foothills of the Eastern Cordillera and the Amazon, on the right bank of the Hacha River, which gives it a privileged ecological location as a link between the Andean region and the Amazon region.

Buena Vista Nature Reserve
 

The Buena Vista Nature Reserve is located in a water-producing area where agroforestry systems (rubber, cocoa, and acai) are cultivated and sustainable technologies such as solar energy are used. It is an educational and learning center for students, teachers, farmers, and indigenous peoples.

Cooperativa Multiactiva Recuperando Herencia Campesina - MANIFUE

 

It is a private, non-profit, solidarity-based farmers' cooperative. Its cooperative framework is as follows: “To contribute to the promotion of solidarity-based business development in order to unite the efforts and resources of its members with the aim of providing them with goods and services that contribute to satisfying their needs and those of their families, in order to honor their personal advancement and the holistic development of the community by acting on the basis of their own efforts, mutual aid, solidarity, and social responsibility.”

Strengthening the resilience of indigenous families affected by forced relocation through traditional sustainable agricultural systems.


On an area of 2.1 hectares, vegetable cultivation and fish farming will be developed according to the principles of sustainable agriculture and incorporating traditional knowledge in order to strengthen the food security of indigenous people threatened by violence. To enable them to survive, 10 families affected by forced resettlement will be trained in a model project. There are approximately 40 people, 52% women and 48% men, belonging to the Amazonian ethnic groups Coreguaje (5 families) and Nassa Uss (5 families), who have settled in the urban periphery of Florencia, Caquetá.
