About us
Following the successful completion of the international EU project “aware&fair – City Games and campaign for local response to the Millennium Development Goals,” the non-profit association aware & fair – Fair Action in One World e.V. was founded in 2013.
Our aim was to build on the valuable experience gained and continue the cooperation we had begun with partners from the EU project “aware&fair.”

History
In 2010, the EU project was initiated by Silvia Hesse, then head of the Agenda 21 office of the city of Hanover and chairwoman of "Freundeskreis Malawi e.V.", and Andrea Phillip from "aiforia GmbH" in Freiburg.
With partners from the cities of Blantyre (Malawi), Poznan (Poland), Litomĕřice (Czech Republic), and Miskolc (Hungary), the international project “aware&fair – City Games and campaign for local response to the Millennium Development Goals” was successfully implemented in 2012-13. It was financially supported by the EU program EuropeAid.
The aim was to address global challenges in a dialogue between cities, to raise awareness of the global responsibility of local authorities, to develop local options for action, such as fair trade and climate protection in line with the MDGs, and to sensitize the population.
In addition to the team from the Agenda 21 office of the City of Hanover, the cultural office, and the team from the participating cities, Transfair e. V. Germany, the Polish, English, Czech, and Hungarian Fairtrade associations, as well as many other associated partners and local actors such as the Young Theater of the State Theater Hanover, the university, and the restaurant industry were also involved.
The project was further supported by the Climate Alliance of European Cities with the Indigenous Peoples of Amazonia and Engagement global gGmbH/the Service Agency Communities in One World SKEW, which is funded by the Federal Ministry.
They remain important cooperation partners to this day.
