Shaping our future hand in hand
Like many cities around the world, Hanover has also committed itself to the Agenda 21 goals. Agenda 21 is a worldwide plan of action to be taken against the growing problems of the 21st Century. In a dialogue with all social forces and their citizens we are searching for socially fair, ecologically and economically justifiable solutions for these problems. Many ideas have already been put into action and there are more to come. Therefore we are constantly cooperating with associations and institutions from different areas, such as the environmental field or developmental policy, education and health care, as well as the field of science and economy. Together we develop and work on different projects and exhibitions, we lead lectures, activities and educational workshops or create and develop informative and educational material. Our main topics of interest are for example the preservation of natural resources, oil production in the rainforest, sustainable lifestyles, stronger integration of migrants, exploitative child labor, climate protection, and of course fair trade and the Millennium Development Goals.
